Proved Tips on Landing Page Design for Increasing Conversion Rates
80In this hub, I am going to talk to you about the best tips on landing page design that increase the conversion rates or the number of opt-ins. I have gathered them from different seminars and from different internet marketers. In landing page design we are mostly concerted about the structure and format of the page, the best font and text sizes and many on-page elements that may increase or decrease the opt-in page or the sales.
Then next time, I will talk about the actual contents and how to do the real copywriting. So let's now start with ...
Page Format
The best page format for a sales page or opt-in page is a simple plain page with bright background with dark/black text. It should be as simple as possible that goes easy with the eye. Readability is important.
It should not have any navigation or sidebar. The first place that people look in your page is the top left. If your your navigation bar is at the left move it to the right, better move down the page where noone can see it get rid of that thing.
*34% increase in conversion rate from moveing your left navigation bar to none.
Here is one easy and simple free application that you can use to design your page in a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) enviroment. You can edit the HTML or see the source too. It is called NVU.
Background Color
Background color of the text should be white. If you want to earn trust use blue (RGB: 110, 160, 250); specially under testimonials and stories.
The second color of choice is brown which implies reliability for selling services, or orange.
Don't use tiled images for the background. It kills the sales. It is like walking into a room with awful wallpaper.
Table
Define a single cell table in the middle of the page for writing all the text. Choose 700 pixels for the width of the table. 800 pixels width looks better, but conversion sucks. People are lazy. Don't want to move their head around. It burns calories. So don'ta wider table.
* Use 15 pixels for padding
Text
For your font, Times New Roman only works for printed documents. It is strange for the sales page. Use Arial, Verdana or Tahoma. Arial font has 40% higher readability.
* Use a font size between 12pt or 30pt
use a 3 line height drop cap letter to make the people read the text. I know. It is crazy, but it works. Most people skim text. If you use it, you may get positive results or negative. It depends on the content of the paragraph, itself. If you the copy is not good, it may actually make the conversion worst.
Putting a signiture image below the text do well. It should be in blue color.
Title
Titile is the most important part of the page, It should be the header of the page. Its purpose is to make the reader to read the sub-header below.
It should be in color RED and white border around the text characters or shadow can increase the sales. Example ...
Make Them Scroll
It is true. Only 12% of people scroll your sales page down. Only one-third of them buy your product. You have to make them scroll. Two ways:
- Use arrows that point to the bottom of the page ;)
- Use teaser images that only some of the image is in the view. It works specially if the top-half of the image is interesting enough.

On-Page Elements
Audio Testimonials
Playing in loop can increase the conversion rate up to 40%.
Arrows
Arrows that point to the action area can increase the opt-in page extensively. Red and Orange arrows work the best. These colors draw attention.
To learn how to use arrows as an example see David's Double Your Dating opt-in page.
Animated arrows pointing to the opt-in can increase the opt-in rate by 12%.
Images
If you want one to click on something, green buttons make people to click on them. They just mess with the head like a bug.
But, for Buy and Add-To-Card buttons, use orange. The color makes it reliable and people are less tempted to push on the back button when they are required to enter their bank account details. And the bigger the button, the better. It can improve your conversion up to 300%.
This one is not bad ...
